Summary
The position of Driver Manager is key within the organization, responsible for initiating, receiving, reviewing, and distributing information to/from driver personnel to ensure same and timely deliveries for our customers. This role monitors load information, driver hours, maintenance schedules, and other information.
Essential Functions and Duties
Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned drivers, maintaining open and effective communication to address needs, concerns, and operational updates.
Oversee the day-to-day activities of the drivers, ensuring routes are completed efficiently and on time, while maximizing asset utilization.
Ensure drivers adhere to all safety standards and regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS) compliance, DOT regulations, and company policies.
Track and analyze driver performance metrics (e.g., on-time deliveries, fuel efficiency, safety records) and provide coaching or feedback as needed.
Actively troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to driver schedules, equipment, or customer concerns.
Stay up to date on FMCSA and DOT rules and regulations.
Foster strong relationships with drivers to promote engagement, job satisfaction, and retention through recognition, support, and career development.
Work closely with other departments such as dispatch, maintenance, and customer service to ensure seamless operations.
Report and communicate each morning and afternoon of any delays or driver needs to daytime customer service.
Monitor and advise customer service of all detention delays at the 2-hour mark or otherwise advised per customer or company policy.
Monitor trailer temps/settings and initial appropriate action(s).
Document any performance issues and assist in preparing performance reviews.
Prepare notes on your fleet daily to ensure smooth communication to night and weekend personnel.
Monitor idle times, fuel compliance, log violations, and PC reports to initiate appropriate action.
Update yard reports with incoming equipment and needs.
Update all systems accurately and timely as instructed.
Cross train as needed within department and assist on other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in multi-tasking
Strong knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Regulations preferred
Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience
1+ years' experience in a related field is preferred

Schedule
Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 5:00 PM with an average work week of 40 hours. Weekend work will be required according to a pre-determined schedule. Schedule is subject to change and additional hours will be required on an as-needed basis.
