NIGHT DISPATCHER


Job Title: Night Dispatcher

Summary

The Night Dispatcher is the communication point for emergency and non-emergency calls. This position will receive requests, transmit messages, and track vehicles. The ideal candidate must be an excellent communicator and able to remain calm and composed, especially in emergency situations. You must be able to multitask as well as take the appropriate action with little supervision

Essential Functions

This is a detail-orientated position that requires proficiency in keyboarding, data entry, phone communication, time management, and organizational skills. Must be able to understand and implement company policies and understand Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) as they apply to operations, safety, payroll, and equipment. Must be able to develop excellent working relationships with drivers.

Responsibilities

·  Receive emergency and non-emergency calls and record significant information

·  Address problems and requests by transmitting information or providing solutions

·  Receive and dispatch orders for deliveries

·  Prioritize calls according to urgency and importance

·  Use phone and computer messaging to send drivers, vehicles, or tow/repair companies to appropriate locations
·  Monitor the route and status of drivers to facilitate on time deliveries

·  Provide drivers with information about dispatches, traffic, obstacles, and requirements

·  Enter data in computer system and maintain logs and records of calls, activities, and other information

Required Qualifications

·  Excellent written and verbal communications skills

·  Proficient in keyboarding and data entry

·  Strong problem-solving skills

·  Successfully demonstrated customer relationship management

·  Proficient in multi-tasking and organizational skills

·  Possess sound judgment and critical thinking

·  Prior working knowledge of freight and logistics

·  Must possess a strong knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Regulations

Experience

·  One to three years of experience in a scheduling or related applicable field

·  Transportation experience preferred


Work Location: In Person

Schedule: Rotating schedule; 3 days on, 4 days off one week and 4 days on, 3 days off the next.
