SAFETY SUPERVISOR

Summary

The position of Safety Supervisor is a key position within the organization responsible for overseeing and implementing safety programs and initiatives to ensure compliance with company standards and industry regulations.

Essential Functions and Duties

  • Monitor safety policies and procedures in accordance with company, local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and handle DOT complaints under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.

  • Monitor Hours of Service violations/log compliance.

  • Specimen collection for pre-employment drug screening.

  • Conduct driver reviews.

  • Scan, process, and electronically file documents for the Safety department.

  • Assist with new hire orientation.

  • Accurately file documents electronically in appropriate programs and in appropriate locations within the program.

  • Assist terminal manager with terminal related duties as assigned.

  • Various other tasks as assigned by your supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience in the Transportation Industry

  • 3+ years of experience in Transportation Safety preferred

  • Comprehensive knowledge of commercial motor vehicle operations and maintenance requirements

  • Extensive understanding of regulatory requirements related to the FMCSR and OSHA

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and resolve situations timely

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Experience

  • 1-3 years in Transportation

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, or Additional Eligibility Qualifications

None

Computer Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and safety management software

Schedule

Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, with an average work week of 40 hours. Additional hours and weekend support will be required on an as needed basis.

Work is mostly performed in an environment that is subject to temperature fluctuations as the outdoor temperature fluctuates. This job requires a moderate degree of physical fitness and mobility. Bending, squatting, stooping, climbing, crawling, and lifting up to 100 lbs. is required.
