Job Title: Tractor Body Technician
This position is responsible for body repair on tractor units as well as performing diagnosis and repair as required by company and DOT standards. This position will also prepare new tractors for fleet requirements and assist tractor and trailer technicians as needed.
Essential Functions
Must have strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude. Must be able to ensure services are compliant with established safety procedures. This position requires the ability to hook, drive, and back-up semi-tractor-trailer combination vehicles. Must have excellent time management and organizational skills and demonstrate the ability to prioritize and multi-task without negatively impacting performance or results. Must be able to effectively and accurately complete detailed work with a sense of urgency; always keeping safety at the forefront and demonstrating safe operating procedures. Moderate degree of physical fitness and mobility is required, including ability to bend, squat, stoop, climb, crawl, and lift up to 75 pounds.
Duties
· Diagnoses and repairs medium to heavy-duty tractors, including preventative maintenance, inspections, repair to air and hydraulic brakes, warranty procedures, ABS systems, suspension, electrical and tractor body repairs with safety as the top priority.
· Performs body repairs on equipment including routine technical repairs and completing repair orders.
· Installs body panels, fuel tanks, and equipment on tractors.
· Remains technically proficient in all areas including tractor and basic parts administration.
· Uses effective interpersonal skills to maintain positive working relationships with team members, all company personnel, and vendors.
· Contributes to the goals of the shop, leadership team, and company.
· Utilizes appropriate resources, such as the parts manual and computer, service bulletins and other resources to research problems, determine most effective and efficient method for repairs.
· Documents work order details within the company’s internal order and billing program.
· Ensures proper documentation is complete, including permits, repair orders, filing, etc.
· Abides by all company policies and safety rules and assist in maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
· Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement and take appropriate actions, recommend process changes, and initiate improvements.
· Be self-motivated, able, and willing to work independently while motivating team efforts.
· Works additional hours in accordance with business needs and other demands of the position.
Required Qualifications
· Competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, Outlook, etc.)
· Must be Detail Oriented
Preferred Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Technical training certificate or degreed program preferred
Experience: One to three years experience
Schedule
Monday-Friday 7:00AM - 5:00PM,
The average work week is 45 hours. Additional hours and weekend support may be required on an as needed basis.
